Linux Packages

This page contains some Linux packages that I have put together. These packages are usually put together with whatever version of Ubuntu that I am currently running. They should install fine on the specified version of Ubuntu or later. It is possible to get them running on earlier Ubuntu systems, or even non-Ubuntu systems, but they are untested there. These packages are all UNOFFICIAL and UNSUPPORTED. Use them at your own risk. If you have a question about, or a problem installing one of these packages, go ahead and drop me an e-mail and I will look into it.

Wolfenstein 3D: (Ubuntu 6.06, "Dapper Drake," or any later version)
Wolfenstein 3D, a classic first-person action shooter by iD Software. This version is called "Wolf4SDL" and is written using the SDL library. This package also includes a launcher program by me, Skip G, as well as the Wolfenstein 3D shareware episode pre-installed. Almost any version of Wolfenstein or its sequel, Spear of Destiny, can be played from the launcher.

DoomsDay: (Ubuntu 7.04, "Feisty Fawn," or any later version)
This is Doom, the insanely popular first person shooter game originally from iD Software. It has since been open sourced and modified by an enthusiastic community. This version is called DoomsDay. It features many enhancements over the original game, including a control panel, enhanced Quake III style 3D models (optional), dynamic lighting, better multiplayer, and a Quake style in-game console. This Ubuntu package includes the engine itself, (can be used for client or server) the launcher program, (called "Snowberry") and a 3D model pack that replaces every entity in the game with an enhanced 3D version (can be enabled from the launcher). This Ubuntu package does *NOT* include any WAD files. You need to use a WAD file from your own purchased Doom game, or you can get the shareware WAD from various sites online.
